There are plenty of young people ready to join the army. The Army doesn't want them. The Pentagon has decided it doesn't want any bigger forces in uniform, since they cost money to train and keep and require a long term financial commitment. That money would much better be spent on Boeing and Lockheed and Haliburton than on groundpounders who don't contribute huge amounts of money to campaigns, can't give you a job when you leave "public" service, and vote Republican anyway.
