I got mine because the intention was to write it off tax wise, though
not too sure that is going to happen any more. It sure is handy to
have at times, sucks dealing with people always not wanting to be
behind a truck, but of course Houston is known for our "great"
drivers.

Well, it does average 17.2-17.4 though, just some tanks are worse than
others. Matter of fact, year to date(all time of ownership) it has
averaged 17.29mpg. Would not be too bad had the price of diessel
stayed down. When I got this truck on June 30th the cost of fuel was
about $1.55 today it is $1.95 and just a couple weeks back it was
$2.18 As unleaded fuels pretty much stayed, I can get premium for my
saleen for the same price I could months ago if not cheaper, I watched
the cost of diesel raise drastically. I tend to top off the tank
twice a week and oddly enough I always know which station on my route
is the cheapest place to go to.

I used to have a Mountaineer(same thing as a explorer), I always got
around 15mpg in that thing and could not stand it. I went from my old
work truck that got 17mpg to the SUV, always annoyed me that the old
truck with less fwd gears was better on gas than the brand new SUV.
