Not always, when I got my truck I bought it new and I was looking for
used options.  I could have gotten a used one for about the same price
as mine but the used one has 60k more miles, less options and older
motor/transmission design.  The reason was that 2005 models were
coming soon and I found a 2003 model still sitting on the back of the
lot, actually found 5 of them.  Sure not something that happens all
the time, but it does happen and at that point it is almost foolish to
buy used since no one in the used market would budge on their prices.
