In short:

1.) Spending trillions to fix a program with long term problems when
the country is already in huge debt is not smart when you have many
more near term problems that may require those funds.

2.) Due to time and political constraints the President can probably
only tackle one problem at a time.  If that's true, Social Security is
the wrong one to tackle: Medicare and Medicaid are the right ones -
they are in critical shape and here we are talking about social
security.

3.) Much of the problem with Social Security is due, in a large part,
to Mr. Bush's own spending spree over the last four years.  That is,
there wouldn't be a large problem, or possibly any problem at all, had
Mr. Bush not had his hand in the cookie jar in the first place.   If
he really cared about SS he shouldn't of signed for the billions of
pork that raided the fund.
