The suit I remember not only was to have him removed as guardian, but also demanded that all insurance money was to be turned over as well. And as husband, he was to continue paying for the medical care. Which I remember at the time seemed unfair to me.
If it was a cut and dried want to retrieve guardianship, the suit could have been severed and ONLY that part could have been pursued. I could be wrong about remembering all this, but I do remember (regardless of what a jerk the husband seemed), the parents lost a lot of points in my mind for NOT just taking their daughter and caring for her.
