What's that have to do with anything?

Let me explain. At 44 I'm not eligible. At 18 I registered for the
draft, which was required by law in '79. There were no wars at the
time but there was a threat of it with the Iran and Beirut. If war had
broken out I probably would have enlisted. The reason I didn't join at
the time was I had a lot of older friends that joined and they all
complained that the whole process of boot camp was to break your
spirit. That and the lies, they always say you did great on the test
so you'll be an officer and then they deprive you of sleep for 3-4
days. Then they make you retake the test and of course you're no
longer officer material.
