city of open air drug markets, open prostitution, projects devastated by 
crack, serious underclass child neglect issues... a police station in DC is 
no place for a 12 year old, unless said 12 year old has just committed a 
homicide. I realize that this is the *transit* police so they have little 
control over a lot of this, but I've felt pretty unsafe any number of times 
while waiting for a bus at a Metro station and I think their efforts are 
better spent there.
