Subject: Apple Mac OSX cracked for Intel PCs

Folks,

You may have heard, here or elsewhere, that Apple Computer was
planning to switch to Intel processors. Paving the way for that,
they created a developer release of their Tiger OSX operating
system which they "locked" by requiring that it use TPM (Trusted
Platform Module) security.

Well ... that lasted for about a week.

Hackers gleefully plunged in and easily removed the TPM
dependent code from the Mac OSX kernel. Today, Bittorent sites
are buzzing with a cracked version of the OSX developer system
which can, as a consequence, run on any Intel based PC.

If you're curious, Google for: tiger-x86.tar.bz2

The code is set up to run within a VMWare system, but there are
sites containing step-by-step explanations of how to install and
boot these files from a PC's hard drive.

So ...

Did the entire world just swing around and change?

Could Apple NOT have known this would happen?

If so, could this possibly be deliberate on Apple's part?

This genie cannot be put back into its bottle.

Apple's OSX for the Mac is now running on standard Intel PCs.
