We have name and address information stored in about four separate files
on our AS400 system. It was home-built by one guy over the last 30
years. Now we are converting away from that creation.

Well, I get to deal with a DB that has about 38 tables that are supposed
to give us basic employee info. If you want to find out where someone
works, you have to traverse, at minimum, 5 of those tables.
But, don't forget that there at least 3 paths by which you can get this
data - take a guess which one is the "right" one. Take another guess as
to why that path is the right one, cause I sure don't know.
Practically every join is like that.

Oh, and primary flags on stuff like phone numbers and addresses - sure,
you can have more than one "primary" address - no problem. Which one is
mail supposed to get sent to? I dunno. I guess all of the ones marked
primary. Oh wait, unless it's the one ones marked primary and "mailing
address," except for when you have more than one marked primary mailing
address.

You get the idea.
