I dunno... I think for english speakers "conman" would be semi-neutral... yeah, there's a negative connotation, but I don't think it would evoke the same sort of visceral response that for instance F*CKEditor elicits... and given that it needs to be named in just one language (whether that's english or french or whatever) I don't think considering it's connotations in other languages is a real issue, beyond perhaps not choosing a name that is known to be offensive in another language like for instance "Misseur Connard" or "C'est la Merde!" would probably be a bad choice. :) Though if we're talking about spanglish, "con man" might translate to "with man", which has a sort of ironic appropriateness to it, since it could be interpreted similarly to "people ontap".
