When I was working on one reservation in the north, the big thing was a ugly concoction made from fermented white beans. Real nasty, but it was about 20% alcohol. That and periodically they would also get pure grain alcohol. The consequences of that was also bad, we had to send about 10 people to the Thompson Manitoba Medical Center for alcohol poisoning and hypothermia.
