That is my second choice. I see them given away so many times here (on FreeCycle), then they end up at a shelter after 3 posts, figured I'd grab one before it had to go there. In my mind it's the same. As long as they are getting out/staying out of the shelter, I'm happy. I'd never buy one from a pet store, that's for sure. We don't have a city/town "pound" here, we have SPCA and rescue groups that take them.
