This is a very different point, but I'm not sure what evil you're
referring to.  We're not saints, but, from a policy perspective, what
US policy is born of evil or executed with evil intent?

You've mentioned Iraq but it's FAR from clear what the result of that
policy will be.

* If Iraq devolves into a civil war and pull up camp and leave, then
we'll have done more harm than good.

* If, on the other hand, Iraq turns into thriving democracy, then
we'll have clearly done good.

In either case the US didn't invade Iraq to do evil, or with evil
intentions.  The same can't be said of those that kidnapped Germans or
start violent riots.
