I believe that what they are saying is that not all conservatives
should be tarred with the epithet "loony" simply by association.

Same as one would expect that not all liberals should be slapped with
the "whacko" label.

Focus on the Family is certainly a sack-full o'nuts, but not all
conservatives espouse their views.

Just as PETA is considered a largely "liberal" organization, not all
liberals espouse the views of those wing-nuts either.
