Any suggestions on how I can train them to stay away from places they
are not allowed? Or, are all cats little bastards that cannot be
trained except to poop in the same location?

If they are feral and you want the gone, call animal services. The can
come and remove them. The kittens might even have a chance of adoption.

If you are interested in cohabitating with the felines, this trick works
inside the house. Lay something sticky, tacky surface up, on the
surface the cats jump on. We've used duck tape for places in our home
where we did not want the cat to jump on. For the car sheets of
mouse/rat paper or might be more practical, the cats jump up, land on
the sticky surface. Hate it and don't do it anymore after just a couple
of experiences.

Cats can learn. An older cat of my mothers learned that jumping on the
potbelly fireplace was a bad idea after one experience once a fire was
lit in it.
