maybe I am too Irish to understand that :) but I know that killing my family would not make me stop if I were Lebanese. Quite the contrary. I grant you that I come of people known for nursing a grudge but that just does not make sense to me.
So what is necessary for me to agree with you is for you to convince me that Iranians and Syrians just don't think the same way I do. My friend Hassan, who was the student member of the Montgomery College Board of Trustees when I was on the student newspaper, is just a different species. My old boss at Montgomery County Taxi is just bent on violence. I did not find these things to be true at the time. I probably haven't spoken to an Iranian since I left DC but how could they have changed en masse so much? My answer is that maybe Hezbollah too think that we are bent on their destruction. So Israel cannot let them continually attack, ok... but there has to be another way to stop them besides killing them. Look at all the violent criminals who are arrested every year. They are still violent, they still have to be stopped, but you can do this without killing them, usually. Where my analogy breaks down is that I do not know what would be the equivalent in this situation. But what bothers me is that I don't see anyone trying to find one?
