Sure would be dishonest...but who is now, or has ever, said that it's the
ONLY promise? I've never heard that argument. I have heard that it presents
the BEST possible avenue, and that is both honest and accurate.

And that makes your  objection religious, or at least moral. Which I
completely respect man. As long as we agree that there is scientific
promise, BIG scientific promise....it's all good.

It is morally equivilent TO ME.  I don't expect you to support the same, but
