I don't either and I am not sure how anyone can be *sure* it was all made up 
unless they want to be, for ideological reasons perhaps. And as Jerry points 
out, a number of people have changed their minds about a number of things since 
1975...

ah well. Kerry isn't even *running* and Bush still wants to use him as a straw 
man is the way I see it. It is easy and even funny to retort that Kerry *is* a 
straw man, the only man in national politics to have been described as a 
haunted tree, but c'mon. There are bigger issues. 

My local weekly points out that in the infamouus Wilson-Madrid race so much mud 
has been slung that it it has stuck to both candidates, true, but if you stick 
to the issues Wilson still needs to go and Madrid has a number of redeeming 
feature in her record as Attorney-General, things that have benefitted the 
state. That's probably the way to be: concentrate on who has a better record on 
the actual issues.
