Is he really defending the troops, or he _pretending_ to defend the
troops against a statement he knows was never intended?

If the former, kudos. I was actually with him in that the first day.
If the latter, then he is a piece of poop, purposefully lying to make
a political point.

See, here is the problem.

I think Bush _is_ intelligent. And since he is, there is no way he
actually believes that Kerry meant to insult the troops rather than
him.

If he _doesn't_ understand the joke, then he isn't as bright as you
and I think he is.
