If the Democrats had a coherent foreign policy, the Republicans would get totally demolished tomorrow, maybe losing 30-40 House seats, but people realize that the Democratic Party has its head up its collective rear end on foreign policy. The Republican policy might be arrogant and even self-defeating in some areas, but at least they have a policy. Not trying to pick a fight, just pointing out that the Dems have managed, once again, to be their own worst enemies.
I think John Kerry's comments, BTW, are having a serious negative effect for them right now. He's the only guy that seems to have a coherent policy and his stance is that the US military is a bunch of baby-killing morons and they need to go back to school and get an education.
