This may have been a reasonable position to take in the past, but now with the
new feedback forum you can leave a *response* to any negative feedback a buyer
gives you. I agree with the original poster that it's unfair that the buyer is
basically blackmailed against leaving bad feedback by not posting for them when
they have fulfilled their payment obligation. I know it often makes me more
reluctant to report bad transactions because I put my own feedback rating at
risk from such retaliation, so in the end, other buyers suffer as well.

I'm actually dealing with this now, I bought something that was listed as new
and in the box, and what I got was clearly used. This after waiting two weeks
to get the item. Took several emails and finally a threat to leave bad feedback
before finally getting a response from the seller that he would "look into it".
More days go by and again I threaten to leave feedback. Now he wants me to send
it back and he will refund the price once it is received. Of course by now
almost a month has passed and by the time I send it back and find out if he
actually will honor that agreement, the 45 days PayPal allows for disputes will
be darn close, if not passed. So I told him I was not happy with that, and just
wanted a partial refund. Two emails stating this, still no response. And if I
post negative feedback about this, I know he will retaliate saying that he
"offered" to take the item back for a refund...which is hardly the whole story
but certainly is true as well. This all just reminds me of why I tend to avoid
Ebay for anything I can buy elsewhere from a reputable online store.
