I agree that most learning should be intuitive.  However, it is a lot
easier when a person has recall of basic facts, especially basic math
facts like 6x7=42.

By the way, my wife and I went to view a Montessori school that we
considered for our daughter.  I really liked the set up.  They teach a
lot of self reliance and learn how to learn skills.  In the end, we
couldn't afford the school though.

I would love to see vouchers pass.  I think they will one day, but too
late for my children.  In my opinion, it would be the best thing to
happen to the public school system.  Once there is competion, the
product improves.  Of course, that opens up a whole new can of worms.
I am sure that many will disagree.  However, I used to be a teacher
and my wife still works in the education.  I am not jumping on a
vouchers bandwagon, but basing it on what I have seen as a teacher and
parent.
