We can speculate all day about what if's. Without being there to assess the
situation I can't give a definitive answer.

But based on past experience, I've have knives pulled on me, one guy left in
an ambulance, with a dislocated shoulder and a broken collar bone, the other
one was unconscious on the ground after a roundhouse to the ribs and three
successive punches to the head.

Then he would have just driven to Kentucky, or to a gun show, or anywhere
else.

What if they guy had two guns drawn and had already killed 5 people before
you realized what was going on, and bullets were flying past you while your
classmates are diving for the ground and throwing desks up to block the
bullets?

Then what, would have been able to skillfully disarm the individual, or
would you have just made for a better target?
