*sigh* People are People man.
There are some that know how to react in a crazy situation..and others that will go into shock and stare and be traumatised for years later, others that will run in to fight, and others that will run away screaming. Your friend was on hand, and he was one of those that knew how to respond and was fit and able to respond, and that's great. I've seen it myself, I've been the guy making the phone calls, pulling people to action and I've seen the dumb staring milling around mob do nothing. And a lot of those people in that 'dumb' staring mob weren't 'bad' people. They just couldn't cope when confronted with danger. After the danger was past, then hey it's open season, and everyones a soldier. People are People.
