Pretty convincing if you ask me and, if I understand him correct, the next end of civilization is predicted to be Dec 23rd, 2012. If you read the book, it's not some mumbo-jumbo, but due to gravitational influences that will cause a crust shift in the Earth (as predicted by Einstein in 1953). He ties together data such as mammoths found in Siberia with undigested flowers in their stomachs and trees found in Antarctica amongst all KINDS of other mysteries (such as the pyramids). Pretty well documented and fairly convincing. It's easy to see how an event like this would wipe out much of humanity but leave little lasting evidence that it took place.
