True... which is exactly why the ramp theory has fallen out of favor.

But the failure of the ramp does not necessitate the creation of unknown
advanced technologies (or the huge number of other things which would be
needed to have that advanced technology).

A favored idea is a "wrap around ramp". Even more probable is a step-based
cribbing approach. Internally the pyramids are essentially step pyramids.
Cribbing uses leverage to move blocks just enough to slide under a frame
which is slowly built up as the block is rocked on alternate levers.

Since the block can "walk up" the steps each crib needs to lift the block
only 5-6' or so before it can be supported by the lower tier.

It's an ingenious technique and requires remarkably little manpower compared
to other techniques proposed. It's well within the means and understanding
of the ancients as well.

Even if this wasn't the technique used the very existence of a technique
which would allow the construction using only period labor and tools casts
doubt the need for the magical super-advanced civilization. In other words
the simple existence of the pyramids can't be used as evidence if they could
have been built using period capabilities.
