Get a Sterns. Definitely Sterns. I wore them in the Canadian wilderness for three years, and they did everything from floating my ass to acting as shoulder padding when I portaged aluminum canoes. If they're anything like they used to be, they're virtually indestructible. Not bulky at all and very adjustable, too. And the arm cutouts must have been designed by professional watermen because they didn't even touch me while digging the oars hard, so no chafing.
