What she said. If you like wine there's a very reasonable, very
accessible (not stuffy, no pretentions) wine bar/shop/restaurant
called Bin 36:

My favorite place for hotdogs downtown is:

Which is just off of Michigan Avenue, also called "The Magnificent
Mile" and is very fun to walk, shop, and eat. Very recommended to
walk and to stay near if you can.

The Embassy Suites on Illinois and/or grand is close, fairly
reasonable, and a good hotel. It's also right off of the Navy Pier
and close to Dick's Last Resort. I used to live in the building and
it's a great location.

There's also the Billy Goat Tavern of SNL's "cheesebooger,
cheesebooger, cheesebooger" fame:

For fun, varied, reasonable dining experiences got to any
Lettuce-entertain-you restaurant:

My favorite nice steakhouse is Rosebud just off the MM:

So that's me: shopping and eating.

For odd things both U of Chicago and Northwestern have nice downtown campuses
