I've heard both ways ... some doctors say morning, some say evening. I've
put a lot of advice from Dr. Mehmet Oz (You: On a Diet and other You books)
into practice that seems to work for me. He says morning exercise jump
starts your metabolism and keeps it revved for up to 24 hours, which helps
to lose weight. Meh. We go with whatever works for our schedules at the
moment and the weather. Probably when it gets cooler we'll do more evening
workouts ... right now it's still about 95-100 degrees with humidity at 7pm.
We prefer outside workouts for cardio so until it gets to be 73 degrees
(which is how blessedly cool it was this morning at 5) in the evening, I
just gotta suck it up and get to bed earlier ... bleh :)

I like the stretching idea. I'll give it a try tonight. I assume it helps
you sleep better?

I read somewhere, that the best time to exercise is in the evening. Not the
morning. You are giving up too much sleep by doing it first thing in the
morning, and that will set you for failure down the road when you hit that
snooze bar one too many times. I try to hit the gym between the hours of
4-7pm. It's a good part of the day. And if the family doesnt like it, tell
them TOO BAD, because your health is important if that family wants you
around a long time. ;)

I also highly recommend about 15-20 minutes of stretching before bed. Just
nice quiet stretching.
