During his court appearance he tells the judge he had no choice: he was starving, had 1 shell left, and shot the first thing he came across which, unfortunately, was the condor. The judge considers this for awhile and decides that the man did indeed have no choice and so he can't punish him. On the way out the judge asks the hunter, "out of curiosity, what did it taste like?"
