And someone decided they would deploy the National Guard. Well we did not end up fighting fires after all. Instead our units provided extra security to evacuated neighborhoods and helped to enforce road closures. Unfortunately for me, since I work in the Operations Center, I was stuck in Escondido for the last couple of weeks helping run the show. It has been an interesting two weeks. Many local merchants comped us a lot of stuff including Target, Starbucks and McDonald's. We were provided food catered in for the last couple of weeks. I think we all gained a little weight over the last couple of weeks. But overall the mission has been very good and well received. We are hoping to come home in a couple of days as all of our units and attached units are finished with their missions. I did take some pictures that I will load up to Photo Bucket with comments when I get back.
