I've owned three ferrets. One was like a dog (behavior-wise) and he was great. I had one that was a littly nippy now and then. The first one I ever had was a bit of a biter - and boy, do ferret bites sting...
BTW - some apartment buildings in New York used to use ferrets for killing rats - so they are fierce little guys sometimes...
