When we last left our daring hero, the Best Buy manager had assured him that getting a bad iPod from the refurb factory was an anomaly. "I've only know of one other case where a bad iPod came back from the repair facility." Our hero acquiesced and accepted another refurbished unit in replacement. After another trip up to BB to retrieve the new unit, our Hero unpackaged it in front of the Geek Squad and verified that it booted.
Scene change: Home of our hero. Our hero charges up the iPod via the power brick from his original iPod (unfortunately, they don't provide these anymore). He goes to sync up his song collection, all 6500 songs and goes to sleep for the night. The next morning, he notices that the iPod has self-disconnected from the computer and has a funny icon when you power it on. It seems to be lacking battery power. Back at the power brick, the iPod powers and shows only 3000 songs. Once again, the power brick charges it up and the syncing begins again. This time, it self-disconnects after 2500 songs. Hmmm....thinks our hero, but puts the iPod in his backpack for work. Scene change: Car of our hero. Thanks to the belkin adapter, our hero happily listens to Trans-Siberian Orchestra on the way to work. Scene change: Office of our hero. Our hero puts the iPod into the docking station to sync up podcasts with the MacBook. About an hour later he hears a strange notification sound and looks at the iPod with is telling him to charge the iPod. Very strange indeed since it's in a docking station. Our hero is charging up super angry skills before he talks with the Best Buy manager! What will become of the POS iPod? Will our hero get a new replacement this time? What will he eat for lunch.
