I'll second the GIMP nomination -- it's free and while it's not a
Photoshop clone it will do everything Photoshop will as far as I know.
The interface is a little strange, but once you are used to it it's a
good alternative. Not sure about Flash. Have heard of something called
Blender, but have not had time to look at it at all so I don't know if
its equivalent.You could see if there are betas available.... there's
a lot of stuff they announced at MAX about Flash.
