Folks are so polarized on this issue here in the US that it's
impossible to have a reasoned debate about it. The US media just
reinforces the insular mindset - you have to look further afield to
see the bigger, more realistic picture. Sam's comment about not having
seen / heard any of the anti-American sentiment from Iraqis is a prime
example of this.

You comment on terrorists being trained in Afghanistan - don't forget
a lot of them were trained by Americans directly or, indirectly, by
American money because it suited America to use Bin Laden and his
guerrillas to help oust Russia from Afghanistan. That this came back
to bite America ought to have be easily predictable (and many
Europeans saw it coming), especially with Bush's foreign policy
involving so much sword-rattling and so little actual politics.

I will say no more on this topic. History will be the judge of Bush.
