That's been the standard for every company I've worked with. There will always be conflicts... I'm "jdavis" at my company but there are 19 others as well (jdavis1, jdavis2, etc). (There are something 90,000 addresses to that domain... there's bound to be duplicates no matter what system you use). Some use middle initial to differentiate, others use middle names. I would also suggest standardizing this across usages. Email address should also be network logon for example. My company does this but isn't quite there (I'm "jdavis" in email but "jwdavis" on the network). We also use an arbitrary "employee number" for single sign-on to corporate resources. I've got a file of dozens of systems, each using one of several IDs (network, employee ID, SSN, etc). Simplify this while you're small and stick to it! ;^) Jim Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;160198600;22374440;w Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:251279 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
