I know this is late in the thread... but on most boards, mailing lists, etc.
I post under my own name, there's a couple that I don't but it's more
because I don’t really care what the folks on the particular board think of
me. Even then, my name is usually in my signature..

I've been known to shoot my mouth off, but if I think I've gone to far or
gone for the throat when it wasn't called for, I've tried to make amends as
best I can.

As far as being googled, I'm not sure that I really care. If a potential
employer is going to base a decision on an opinion that I've expressed on a
mailing list, or message board somewhere, I'm not sure that they'd be
someone that I would want to work for. I have a reasonable expectation to be
hired based on my merits as a developer.

The only reason I may want to know who's behind a handle, is to say hello if
I run into you in person.
