Plug: Paul did the original HoF lightning bolt by taking exactly what I said and making it reality. I've got the original png you sent me. I'll send that over.
The 120 image is ok but it has a white halo which is the effect you see in the test layout. What I need is the original bolt in a circle with a transparent background if at all possible. Maybe a different color circle as well. The bar intersection is due to a little CSS magic. The logo is absolutely positioned so that its above any background colors/images. The top bar is blue with a margin shifting it over to start a little after the center of the logo. The sidebar is an image if 1 pixel high set as the background of the sidebar div. The div starts about 1/3 way down the image. With the image overlapping these two backgrounds, you get the corner effect. This is all using cflayout/cflayoutarea in the vbox/hbox mode which is very tight. No extra css or js files. The same layout can be done by hand but...
