Yeah, I love Dragnet, too. Hated the comic ripoff movie. It's really interesting to watch the earliest and then the latest episodes, because interpretation of 4th Amendment rights changed during that time. In the earlier episodes, you see our heroes waiting inside some guy's apartment and grabbing him as soon as he walks in the door. No search warrant, nothing. Later episodes they have to go through the motions. Incidentally, my dad knew Jack Webb from his work in television. I thought it was touching how the flyover formation of LAPD police helicopters did the "missing man" formation at his funeral.
