I don't really think that many of the articles I've read on Climate
Change ignore the ups and downs of the climate over history. Most of
the more recent stuff I've read about has been specifically about
Carbon in the atmosphere and it's impact on warming. It's entirely
possible that the earth isn't warming just because of carbon, but
there is overwhelming evidence that carbon does cause the earth to
warm.

I think on the contrary, real scientists are debating what causes
cycles in the earth's climate and attempting to measure mankind's
impact on it. Ignorance comes into play when either side tossed up
their hands and throws out all the evidence because there isn't
enough. All scientific theories grow over time, that's part of the
process. But tossing out the current theory in it's entirety is
foolish. There is definite value in continuing to study climate
change but waiting till we have enough evidence is gonna mean we need
to wait a very very long time (very).

The scary stuff comes with some of the studies of the earth's oceans
and their ability to retain all the carbon they've been soaking up.
If that changes, then carbon's gonna accelerate even more in the
atmosphere. Even more reason to study it's effects even more
vigorously. The bleaching of coral reefs is a good indicator that the
ocean's acidity levels are getting dangerously high (absorbing carbon
makes the ocean more acidic).
