A gun only has one purpose, to end the life of or incapacitate another
living being.

A weaponized knife (K-Bars, Hunting Knives, Bowie knives) falls into the
same class, IMO.

I own several swords, their display and martial arts practice pieces, none
can hold an edge. However if I bought one that could, I would have it in a
locked display cabinet.

You understand this going in, and are obligated to take appropriate
precautions.

A knife is an instrument that I purchased to use with no intention of
it ever doing anybody harm. somebody took it from me without my
knowledge or consent and used it to harm somebody else.
