You probably could, but to get the best performance from any kind of mid-high end speaker, you're gonna need more juice. If you look at the "premium" sound package from the 'Yota, it includes an amplifier under the driver seat... It's really not that much more when you think about it. Smallish amp, some passive or active crossovers to get the mids up front and the base in back and you are set. Instant "premium" sound for a whole lot less than a package 4 would have run you.
I'd have done this already myself, but my wife hates (and I mean hates) loud stereos. And I couldn't do it justice without punching up the bass a bit... -----Original Message----- From: Zaphod Beeblebrox [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 14, 2008 7:07 PM To: cf-community Subject: Re: Car speakers - again I'm really adverse to putting too much into a stereo for this car so I'd rather not do much more beyond replacing the speakers. I got to wondering if I would do better to find some higher efficiency speakers like the db6501's from polk at 92db or maybe these kenwoods at 91db. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=113KFCP708&search=KF C-P708&tp=106&tab=features_and_specs I'm definitely getting tired of the musical motorboat experience. Can I get out of that without an amp? On Oct 14, 2008, at 7:44 PM, Jeff Garza wrote: > It's a good start, but I don't think the stock tuner has enough > "oooommph" > to make these speakers fly...
