The only time I've seen this level of psychosis surrounding politics
was the 1968 election cycle with all the assassinations.  It is scary
that someone would be so emotionally invested in politics that they
think an action like this is warranted.

Both sides need to roll the rhetoric way back, and immediately make
statements disavowing violence of any kind, before someone gets
killed.
