According to CNN, 22% of voters called themselves liberal, 44% called themselves moderate, and 34% called themselves conservative. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/results/polls/#USP00p1 Seems like the conservatives and moderates were punishing the Republican party this cycle. There is no reason to believe a conservative cannot make it back into office in the next set of elections. I do think the Republican Party needs a reboot.
