I got a new set of tires on my car a while ago, and at my next oil change
at the garage, they told me that I had had a screw in the tire. They
repaired it, and I have been driving on it ever since, (at least 8 to 10
months now).
Your other option, if you have to buy a new tire, as the one is not
repairable, I am sorry to say that you really should buy TWO tires, cause
then they can be a matched set (front or back) and this fixes tread wear
issues that you might have with replacing only one tire
