Try this - for every ad company you find, add their IP to your hosts
file, like so:

127.0.0.1 x10.com
127.0.0.1 ads.x10.com
127.0.0.1 www.x10.com
127.0.0.1 ads.doubleclick.net
127.0.0.1 doubleclick.net
127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net

Whenever an ad tries to load, you will get a broken image, which, 9
times out of 10, is better than the ad.
