The huge error in that thinking is that it's an either/or. It's not. If I put you on a long electrified leash, I can let you run so far that you think you're free. But if I've decided you've gone too far I can give you a little jolt - no near enough to kill you - but enough to get your attention. China can do the same to us. They don't have to "ruin us". They could jolt our entire economy for a week; nothing too bad, but a jolt. And, like I said, they could do more if they wanted - not a lot - but more. It would hurt them, no doubt. But it would hurt us worse.
