As usual G's got it right.  *Functionally* those are our 2 options.

To get there (assuming we're rational), you have to assess which type
of people you think these are using Batman logic:

1.) Provocative talkers who might do something stupid, or

2.) People who simply want to watch the World burn.

In my opinion, talkers talk about fire and pyros light them.  Since
Iran is talking and not lighting I'd say they're type #1.  Type #1 can
be available to diplomacy.

It's when they transition to type #2 that you need to gun up.

SUMMARY:
If you think we need to invade Iran today you've allowed yourself to
be provoked by them.  In MMA it's call "taunting".  You insult your
opponent in the hopes he gets emotional and makes a stupid mistake.

Like invades Iraq and removes a problem for you.

So the only question for the US is, who do we want to be?  The
manipulator or the manipulated?

At this point you've been manipulated.
