Good story. One of my favorite "not from this culture" exclamations is "hot as the first squirt of the haggis". Never tried haggis. Probably never will. Speaking of things I thought I would never put in my mouth again on purpose, I had some good brie last weekend, served warm and off the rind, with what I think were capers mixed in. Still not my favorite, but edible.
