Because of fraudulent behavior by a former employer, I have no medical
insurance, and as an active cancer patient not likely have any in the
foreseeable future. When I need care, I negotiate a cash price with
the provider. Most of the time they will give either the reasonable
and common price from the insurance chart, the medicare price, or
their standard rate less a discount. Earlier this year was I able to
convince the drug company to sell me cancer meds at a 50% discount.
Still outrageously expensive, but a savings over retail nonetheless.

I'm not keen the government forcing me to have medical insurance.
I've written software for the insurance industry for many years, and
I've seen the soft gooey belly of their corruption. I have no desire
to contribute to their profits.
